Susobhit emerges state youth chess champion

Susobhit Das of Rourkela won the title in the Odisha State Youth (U-25) Championship, logging full seven points here at Pragati Utkal Sangha, Sector-7 today. His citymate Rahul Lamba finished runner-up with 5.5 points. The duo qualified to represent Odisha in the National U-25 Chess Championship, scheduled to be held at Kankarbag, Bihar from October 13 to 19.

Altogether 80 players from seven districts participated in the three-day tournament, which was organised by Pragati Utkal Sangha, under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association. Former Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak handed over the trophies in the presence of chief arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo, All Odisha Chess Association Executive Member G C Mohapatra and Pragati Utkal Sangha General Secretary Radha Mohan Nayak.
